Too much torque - Not enough RPMs
Is this possible?
The mechanic who performed my valve job (maybe) finally figured out the Knock Sensor alarm problem ..... it was the timing! It is now set to 8* initial and the 454 Mag MPI seems to run quite strong!
Except ..... I cannot spin a Mirage/PLUS 23p prop over 4300rpm (turned 4900rpm before he worked on engine). The engine however, seems to be putting out a lot more torque than before the work. Now, I can blow out (cavitate) the 3-blade almost throughout the RPM spectrum. When goosing the stick even at 3000rpm (40mph), the prop will not grip the water.
Can I trade some torque for about 750 RPMs?
