Thanks, that was an excellant thread.
I'm running mid 70's. still trying different props since changing from a TRS to the bravo. 26 bravo 1 seems to work the best so far but I'd love to try a hydromotive 4 blade. I need some stern lift. Looking to break 80.

Just my 02. I added a nosecone to an outboard years back. I believe it was Bob's. Looked cool and everything. But after a while water got under the bondo and it kept blistering and peeling off. Nothing but a pain in the ass. Constantly rebondoing and painting it. And it really made no improvement in speed. But boat only ran mid 70's.

Re: Which Nose Cone

Carm,
talk to Hydromotive. That is the nose cone of choice in my circle. But the newer Merc is suppose to be good up to high 80mph. A lot of it depends on what your hull combination likes.

Hope this helps.

Re: Which Nose Cone

I had a 29 Fountain that ran 80 mph, added nose cones and made no difference in speed. If you like the looks of a nose cone, which I did, go ahead and put it on but don't look for any mph gains. I had Bobs

Carm, I would rec. a Hydromotive if you must have one. It doesn't seem to change boats ride and handling, but I have not seen any speed gains at less than 90mph.

I am running 90 am I a candidate? I have thought about a nose cone or shorties. Not sure what direction would yield the most speed. There is a big price difference.
