OK, so I spec'd the parts for marinizing a 502 using Mercruiser parts. The price came to over $11,000! Obviously, this isn't the way to go. That's over double of what I think it should cost.

Can some people be kind enough to give me some ideas on how to get this cost down? Where are the good deals for good quality parts?

John, you are probably a lot more experienced at this than I am. I sure there are some good buys in the ads and ebay (I scanned through some of them), but other than the major parts, such as headers, I think I really need a just a few retailers who have good prices, and can set me up with the parts I need. I'm a little short of time to shop each item individually, especially when you start getting into every nut and bolt to get the thing together.

Even just finding those retailers is turning out to be a lot harder than I expected.

its pretty unusual to start from nothing like you are... most people have the dead motor to srip for brackets and pullies and the like. i suggest you find a blown up or beater motor complete for a couple grand and go from there... at least youll know everything worked together as an entity. i threw out 2 454's w/ all the stuff you wanted except the bellhousings when i repowered mine w/ the 502 mpi... and im sure im not alone in having done this.... its just too much junk to keep around.
