Default Merc. Cap & Rotor or MSD Cap & Rotor

I have been using the Merc. Cap and rotor with my MSD Ignition for the last couple of years without any problems. I am looking at changing over to a MSD Cap & Rotor to macth the MSD Ignigtion and to save some $. I can get both the MSD Cap & Rotor for the price of just the Merc. Cap....

I don't see any problem with that. I just changed my stock Mercruiser cap and rotor to Accel with the brass points. Worked out just fine.

Default Cap and rotor

I used MSD caps and rotors for a few years and had problems with rust/corrosion. I switched back to Mercruiser and do not have the same problem with rust/corrosion at all. Same boat, motors and boating. I am a big fan of MSD, but in this particular application I prefer Merc.

That is one of my reasons for poss. switching, I have to replace mine every year because the Merc's are getting all greeen inside the cap anyway and MSD's are half the price.

I have used the msd caps on several occasions with no problems. NO salt air around here though.
