I need a new complete axle for my Load Rite trailer and need the best and quickest deal I can find. Anybody have any ideas? Apparently the axle is custom and has to come from load rite.

The spindle setup is apparently Load Rite Specific.

they all say that.... before i believed them i would hustle over to tractor supply and see what they had ... i set an axle on fire on a 25000 lb tri axle on the way to ohio ... stopped outside of a "tractor supply" and they had a new hub and brake assy on the shelf... cheap. i think most of this stuff is generic.

It isn't the hub but the axle itself. The hub is a generic piece. The axle has an offset to it that nobody around here has. I know the repair shop isn't trying to get me on it because they gave me the info and said I could save about $250.00 by ordering it myself due to the fact they are required to mark ordered parts up 30%. These guys are straight shooters that I've dealt with for years. When they say that they have spent hours looking for one, I believe them.

Based on the fact that the repairs are about $1300.00 and a new set of wheels and tires is around $700.00, I am considering having a new trailer built by Instigator down in Houston. They'll build a new aluminum trailer delivered for about $3300.00. Beyond the repairs and wheels and tires, it needs bunk work, new front pads and rollers, a winch. It essentially needs everything but a frame at this point. It seems like buying a new one may be the way to go.

i would imagine buying new couldnt hurt.. I guess im not envisioning what it is thats so specific about that brand that no one has a generic option for it..

I have rebuilt a few load rite trailer. The axle should have a 4" offset or drop. You should just replace them with round tube axles all you need to do is change the spring pad on each of them and use the matching hardware. Check out Eastern Marine trailer supply in DE. They have everything you would need to finish the job.

You have a number or a website for them? I'll certainly give them a call. Will they know what I'm looking for if I tell them I have a Load Rite?

Well they are a load rite trailer dealer also. They may want to sell you a load rite axle. The people there are pretty good just ask for someone in trailer parts.

Thanks for the replies. The axle can be had through Eastern Marine from Load Rite for about $1200.00 or they can get just the axle and set me up with their brakes for about $900.00. With that being the case, and the other issues the trailer needs attended to, I went ahead and ordered a new one. If anybody is interested in the old one, it will be for sale soon!
