Default Timing and jetting dual Holley 4150 800cfm's on supercharged 509?

I'm about to start up my rebuilt 509 with a 8-71 blower and two Holley 4150 (9022) 800cfm's.

What jets and powervalves etc should I begin with? (Standard jetting from Holley is 72 / 87 and 6.5 PV.)

At what angle should I put my timing?

Do you have a HP guess for this engine?

The engine is as follows:

Block: Merlin II 509ci
Crank: Callies
Rods: Manley H-Beam
Pistons: JE blower pistons (757F)
Piston rings: Total seal TNT gapless top
Cam: Marine Kinetics Hyd roller
242º/250º @ .050" / .646"/646" lift valve / 112LSA
Wot RPM: 5700-5800rpm
Heads: GM 188
Head gaskets: FelPro MLS
C/R: 8.3
Valves: 1.88/2.25
Rockers: Jesel Comp Series 1.7
Intake: Blower intake
Intercooler: Superchiller
Blower: BDS 8-71
Boost: 52T/49T (+/- 5.8% overdrive) About 8psi
Carbs: 2x Holley 9022 800cfm (Holley std jetting: 72 / 87 / 6.5PV) Not boost referenced
Ignition: Thunderbolt IV
Distributor: MSD 84891 Crab cap
Exhaust: Stainless Marine Gen III with 4.5" dry tails
Fuel: 91 or 93octane

Well I can help you with timing and HP guess... I'd run 32 degrees and I think you will make ~825-850HP.

I don't know Holly 800's, but jetting on Demon 825's and almost the same set-up is 87 / 92 with boost referenced 4.5 pv in primary only, no pv in 2nd dary. Keep in mind Demons are totally set up different than Holly.

Also...make sure you run 93 Octane....or take some boost out of it with those iron heads if you plan on staying in it for long periods...

Thanks!

Yes we will fill it up on land this summer so we will always use high quality 93octane.

How do you know the boost if ya havnt run it yet?

Looks like a nice combo.

Timing 32 locked.
No pv secondary increase jet size 7 numbers.
Primary should be boost refernced and you will need
to see where your vacuum boost is while running
a 6.5 should be good to start with.
Make sure you have the big acceleartor pumps in
the front atleast. Otherwise you may have a flat spot
when you whack it.

Just like Jdnca1 said make sure ya run the good gas.
Do a search on here reading plugs read it and learn it.
Stay on the fat side of jetting and you will be safe.

Good Luck
Gerry

Thanks Gerry,

Regarding the boost it's a estimate and comparison from previous year with the old pulleys.

Do you mean I should increase the jets with 7# from the standard ones from Holley 72/87 to 79/94?

Oh I see. You ran a similar combo last season?

When you run a powervalve plug you would want to
increase 6-8 jet sizes to componsate.

I would run a plug in the secondary and increase jet sizes.
Then boost ref the primary power valve.

Are you adding boost from last season?

Are your carbs side saddle or inline?

Yes, the changes from last year is the cam, added intercooler and went from -13.3% (underdriven) to -5.8 (or+5.8% depending on exhaust temps etc). And of course all new bearing and gaskets...

One or the PV's is already plugged (in both carbs). I will skip the boost ref for now, really have no time for it for the moment.

The carbs are mounted side by side, like yours in your avatar..

Ok, I will lock the distributor at 32deg's and keep the old jets as they were (78/96) when I start it up today.

The dyno guy will take care of the rest at the dyno on thursday.

Thanks you guys!

I'm gonna guess around 750hp with the GM Heads.

I'd go 32 on the timing but see what the dyno likes best.
