I placed an order tonight with Summit. Hopefully I didn't order the wrong parts. I asked these questions on 2 forums, and get all kinds of opinions. I'm not trying to recreate the wheel, but when I get all different responses and I can't simply return them at the auto parts store on the corner, it becomes a hassle. Here is what I ordered, hopefully didn't getthe wrong parts...
MSD-31299 Plug Wires
MSD-8406 Cap and rotor

The boat is strictly fresh water, has been since new. The boat had 25 hours on it in 2004 when I purchased it. Since, I have run it quite a bit, nearly every weekend of our short boating season in upstate NY. From my searches, I see the issue is potential exhaust manifold gaskets leaking and potential reversion leading to bent valves? Is this why people are insisting I replace them? I don't have an issue with routine maintenance, but don't want to pull it apart unless needed. Maybe I hold off to the end of the season and complete it before winterizing? Or shop around for some headers

If its only fresh water, the manifolds and risers should be fine. I would definately change the riser gaskets.
What I would do is keep an out in the swap shop and classifieds for a used set of stock manifolds and risers that were low or zero hour take offs. They will be dirt cheap compared to new.
