Default zz502 rebuild rpm

I had my 502 built into a 542. I can now only get 72mph at 5000 rpm. it has a direct dominator jet drive. should this motor have more rpm. 5000 rpm is the max i can get it to. the guy who built it said it should have about 600 horse.

I had mine propped to run @5600 WOT. They are now with a new owner, but currently have about 300 trouble-free hours on them and are still running very strong. I believe that GM states that 5800 is the redline.
