lifter change
yes but do yourself a favour by borrowing a dial guage . whip your rocker covers and inlet manifold off, then loosen your rockers and take your pushrods out .set the dial guage up in the valley directly over the lifter and rotate the engine. check the lift on all the cam lobes this way , it should vary only a couple of thou. at least then you will know if the cam is rooted. its no good just replacing lifters if the cam is u/s. cheers tassie boy

He's telling you to check your lobe lift on the cam before you replace your lifters, to make sure that none of the lobes is out of spec. If intake is supposed to be .500 and exhaust .550 at the cam, this will tell you if it is. If you came up with an exhaust with only .500 than you need to replace the cam.
Why are you replacing your lifters?

No, I'm not replacing them just have to keep tightening my rockers and was thinking down the line. I pretty much replaced the top end with new heads pushrods and rockers but didn't replace the lifters.

If you are continually having to tighten rocker arms, the cam is starting to go flat. I would not put new lifters on an old cam. Replace both the cam and the lifters at the same time.
