Gear Change Question
I Would Like Some Input On Gearing.my 28 Aero Tek With A 509 607 Hp At 5900 Will Only Turn 5000 Rpms.im Currently Running A 1.50 Gear And A 26 Labbed Bravo 1.the Boat Runs 72.1 With That Prop.ive Had A 24p Powertech That Turns The Same Rpm But 2 Mph Slower.my Question Is How Can I Get The Rpms Up To 5800 - 5900 And Still Turn A Prop With Some Decent Pitch.seems Like A Waste Of Money To Put A 23p On It If By A Calculator It Doesnt Pick Up Any Speed?will Changing The Gear Ratio Get Me Where I Need To Be?any Input Would Be Appreciated!

Try a prop change to get the rpm you want and see if the speed goes up with more available power. I think the number on the speedo is more important than the number on the prop. I don't know if you can find a definitive answer on ratio and prop combos. Its trial and error. Unless you find the exact same comb on another boat like yours. Good luck,
