Trident steering hose/reusable fitting
Trident marine steering hose/reusable fittings
I'm attempting to replace some steering hoses using the reusable fittings and having problems. The hose has to be put on the fitting end by turning it counterclockwise and pushing it. It must be separating the outer wall from the middle section because the fluid is getting between the center and outer wall and bubbling it. I bought a "vise block" to try to prevent it but don't see how it can work because you still have to leave 3/4" of the hose out of the block to get the fitting on. Also, do you use oil on both the inside and outside of the hose to make it easier to install into the fitting?
The system is a "Hynautic" which uses a reservior which has to be pressurized. Is ther any way for pressure to build up which may have caused the original break?
