SS Exhaust flaps inetgrated with tips for 454 mag

Hello,

I have a regular exhaust with the rubber flaps on the outside. My brother in law showed me in the pipe, up about 4 inches is what seems to be like a little door frame in the middle of each exhaust and he said there were supposed to be 2ndary internal metal flaps hung off of this frame and that they were important.

so I thought i would ask you...

1. Are these important since I have the external rubber flaps
2. If so, where can I find these parts instead of replacing the whole exhaust tip?

thanks! NEW boater Frank

It should have internal flaps. The exterior ones do very little. Where to get the parts depends on what tips you have. They will probably need to come off to replace the internal flapper. try to get internal flappers that are SS. The rubber ones just crack and burn up.

Because they float. They open up and water from waves will still get into the exhaust.
