My 1000 gauge quit working so I am replacing that hole with the monster water pressure gauge, No problems yet with temp or hoses. I just got a really good deal on these Livorsi gauges fifteen total gauges, yellow rims and yellow bezels, twelve-2 5/8, Three-4 1/5 in. 100mph gps speedo, gps puck, recall switch and 2 monster tachs for $760.00

I agree this is the easiest place to mount a mech pick up for a gauge. Jamie / lakeside

You can always take one of the drain plugs out of the side of the block, one is by the starter, one by the oil adapter. My last boat was done that way. The new boat has a 525 and is rigged up to the header where the drain plug would be. The oil cooler would be pretty easy too.

Not on a 496 8.1.. They are closed cooled.. You are thinking of the other BBC that are open cooled systems.. Jamie / Lakeside

You're right, I didn't catch that the first time.

Scratch the block, but you could use one of the drain plugs off your exhaust.
