Default Blower or tunnel ram

OK,
Picked up a older 42' Excalibur boat with 502's.
Buddy just happen to have 2 compete 8-71 set ups.
So I bought them.

Now, some are saying not to install the blowers because I have Merc trannies and TRS drives.
They will not last with the blower strain, as I am told.

I was putting them on for looks and more " go ".
I know the the older boat will never be a 10,000# rocket ship.
Just love the looks/sound of blowers.

Well then how about tunnel rams????
Got those too!!!!

Put the blowers on, set them low boost and look cool.

It all depends on the engine's parts and condition. if it had stock Merc 420's or 465's, the tunnel rams will not only be a waste, they'll probably lead to the early demise of the engines. Blowers need blower motors to go on. Everything is going to be stressed by double. The cheapest part by far of a blower motor setup is the blower kit.

the merc trans won't hold up either , they may hold for a while , but are not really suitable for blower application..

The boat had 454's and the past owner put in the 502's.(500hp)
I have not looked at the trannies but was told the are merc's.

Will look at the trans this weekend.

If it is a Merc trany, how hard of a swap is it for the Borg?

IS that my only option with out spending major cash?
