The line that goes into the center of the oil filter pad would be the return.

When you have everything plumbed, prime the oil system using the proper tool and then you can crack a few lines to make sure everything is going the right way. The oil will always go from the outside of the filter to the center.

You should also be able to get good oil pressure doing this.

If you use a filter with an anti drainback valve,if you plumb it backwards, no oil will move when you go to prime the oil system. Your drill will load instantly but there will be no oil pressure in the engine.

Oil goes "In the Inner" hole on the block. The way I remember it anyway.

Simple.
Just remember on the filter:
oil goes in the outside and out the inside.
