couple questions for the guru's
I'm neering the end switching out heads/intake/carb/exhaust on my motor and have a couple of questions
1: I have the engine at TDC and when i put the distributer back in the rotor is facing #8 , 1 piston off , i can adjust the distributer to make it face #1 but thats not the way it came out , i didnt mess with the cam , just the heads . its confusing me
2: i also switched to a stainless marine t-stat housing and cross over , on the original Merc housing theres a sensor , i assume its a temp sensor , but theres another one next to it that screws into the water port on the intake , this is of less importance , i'll just find out which gauge aint working when i finaly fire is up
3: and this is purely for looks , when going to an aftermarket exhaust , i've mapped out where my shift quadrent is gonna go , and my oil filer and lines , any advice for the ign module and the wiring plug in in front of the motor?
check it out , it looks pretty good , kinda out of place in my junkyard boat
thanks in advance for any help

Your engine looks very nice. 1 I agree the oil pump drive rod moved when you removed the distributor. If it bothers you, pull the distributor and turn the drive rod back with a long screwdriver, and reinstall. 2. The second sensor is probably for the alarm system in the boat.
