Default 500 Efi Converted To 525

This is probably a dumb question, but is their a reasonable way to convert a 500EFI to the 525 equivalent on a used 500. At this point I need to get the heads done on my boat and am wondering the smartest way to spend money, just do a valve job and leave stock or upgrade. Sorry if this has been covered before.
Thanks,
James

You can usually find 525 EFI kits for sale in the classifieds. People who run the Whipple SC on 525's have to remove everything. You can get the cam from crane. You will have to buy a few parts from a merc dealer, such as the timing wheel.

New heads, cam and ECM reprogram will easily get you more then what the 525 offers. I got 598 HP.

Go with aluminum 315CC heads, the crane 741 cam and have Mark Boos at Precision Marine in Kenner, La do the ECM program and you will be very happy and it will look totally stock.

So far 160 hours and it runs and idles great and the mid range is incredable.
