A resistor will work. I made a temp sensor "simulator" using a reostat and small project box found a local electronics store. That way you can dial in any temp you want. The one in the picture is setup to simulate the exhaust temp sensors on 496/8.1, but you could make a similar thing to work on an ECT sensor.

Thanks for the info. When I checked the ECT with a digital ohm meter on the 20k scale the cold reading was 2.40 & the reading @140 degrees was 0.45. I'll try to duplicate the 0.45on an old reostat that's laying around. Thanks again
