GPS Spedo Question ?
Guys,
I have a Livorsi GPS Speedometer that I put in the boat 4 seasons ago. This past weekend I had the boat out for the 1st time this season & the needle went thru the start up sequence & then went to 35 MPH which is 9 O’clock on the gauge & stayed there no matter what speed I was going. I called Livorsi & they told me that the GPS antenna has a small battery that is soldered on a little board in the puck part of the antenna & I can send it back to them & they can replace it for $75.00 I just never heard of a battery inside of the antenna & it mentioned it NO WHERE in the manual. So if this is correct you will need to replace the battery ever 4 years I guess. Seems strange to me but if any one know this to be correct I would appreciate any feed back. Thanks

Elite Marine . Thanks for the confirmation I will be sending it to Livorsi tomorrow. I guess that any one that is not aware of this FYI. Also I am glad I didn’t epoxy the puck
to the boat. I used some clear silicone and I was able to easily remove it.

Funny you should post this, I just had this happen to my Gaffrig one. Stuck at 20 (9 o'clock as well) coming on a plane. The speedo had power as I hit the Recall/Erase functions a couple of times. Then I was at my boat today to troubleshoot and put the key in it, went through the startup motions and when I hit the recall, it read 50, which was about right for that day. (rough)
Same deal? Boat is 5 years old.
