SBC oil flow confusion
I finally rigged my remote oil system on one of my new engines and seem to have oil flowing in 2 different directions at the same time. I used a block adapter and filter mount from Hamburger's Perfomance, neither of which sport any sort of bypass. Both pieces have clearly marked "IN" and "OUT" ports. To my knowledge small Chevy blocks do not have any type of internal bypass.
First pic shows the whole setup.
Seccond pic shows oil flowing out of the proper "OUT" port on the block.
Third pic shows oil flowing out the hose end that connects to the "IN" port on the block and completes the loop. At the same time a small amount of oil is also flowing out of the "IN" port on the block, its not bleed off becase it starts and stops with the drill. I'm no expert buy why would it be flowing in 2 different directions?
