Blew a fitting off stbd exhaust manifold 496
Was going along when I saw water pressure drop then alarm. Shut down. Some water in the bildge.
A fitting on the stbrd manifold. If you follw the seapump supply hose it goes to a t fitting continues on to the powersteering cooler. Well off this tee a hose goes to a fitting on the bottom of the manifold. There no clamp seems like hard plasitc. This appears to pop back in but will slip right off with any type of pressure.
I did not attemp to remove the fitting. Unsure if I will be able to spin it around fully to unscrew it.
I'll atemp tommorow. Burned out and riding back on one engine. Long day.
Trying to see what part it is. I looked here but cant see it clear in the pics.

Thanks,
Way better pic. It does look very close to 23.
That fitting does not screw on. It slips on. I cant see how it broke.
did a better search for my serial number. Looks like number 3 for Stbd manifold.

Hope that helps, I do not have a 496 but thought that was what you were referring to.
I just punched in for any 496 because I did not know your ser# range
btw, I have never ordered from that site. Just have used thier info. Maybe one day I will.
Another better micrfiche site is Bams, which is Mercruiserparts.
I just did not have their website here at work

Sounds like you are describing the check valve cup on the exhaust manifold raw water inlet fitting. These are plastic and have been known to get a split in the plastic and pop off. If thats the problem, get a new one and snap in on and off you go.

My system view shows two different pressures. One was always double the other. One of the sensors took a dump so I have a new one on the way.(thanks to a very nice OSO member) I will post what both readings display after the new sensor install.
