Generator, to keep of get rid of?
#12
Just found the paperwork and manuals from the generator. The generator unit weighs 438lbs. So I guess with the battery for it, muffler, and filled with water and oil, 600lbs probably not too far off.
But anyhow, I think i might as well just remove and see whats wrong and go from there. I guess it may come in handy if i ever add a big stereo system or lots of lights.

No air-cooled generators in the engine room!
Access to the front of your engines will be a piece of cake without that monstronsity of a generator in the way.
You can buy a new 4.0 KW Kohler or Westerbeke that weighs less, is more fuel efficient, is physically smaller, turns less RPM AND comes with a warranty!
What are you waiting for? Yank that useless, (well, you SAID it wasn't working), piece of iron out of your bilge, take that puppy out for a ride and feel how much friskier it feels. You may be pleasantly surprised!

I have never met anyone that was happy with their rebuilt, old, POS generator, until they had spent more money on fixing it then they could have bought a new one for. And then once it runs right, it's a dice roll if it will work right every time.
Get a new one and be done with it. Once they break, they are a pain in the azz.
