Default Do I need to go to a marine specific machine shop???

I just pulled the heads off my 2000 7.4 mpi and they need some reconditioning... should I be looking for a marine specific machine shop or can any one do the work? Definitely need a valve job and 2 exhuast studs need to be drilled out but that seems like commonplace to me. I imagine I will need a special gasket set to put it back together.

Just want to make sure I get it done right.

Thanks for any help.

Brian

Valve guide clearance is a little looser on marine engines.

They do not need to be marine specific. However, they do need to be versed in the differences between marine and street engines.

Also, the exhaust valves are severe duty. Inconel or Farea are good choices.
