Default 496 ? Plug and Play help

I am removing a 1998 454 mpi mercruiser from my 2000 vip vindicator boa tand replacing it with a 2003 496 mag ho . Just wondering if the trouble alarm beeper that is under my dash will simply plug into an adapter on the 496. This is the beeper that beeps twice when you turn on the key and beeps if there is trouble like a high temp or low outdrive oil. Also does anyone know if there is such a thing as a counter rotating 496 or is that handled in the out drive? The motor is comming out of a boat with twins and I want to make sure it will turn the correct way in my boat. I have a R hand Bravo One drive.

All 496's are standard rotation, any reverse rotation needs are handled in the drive or transmission. You alarms should work fine as long as nobody has done anything funny with it over the years, the alarm system should all be the same. Hookup the 10 pin harness and you should be good to go with all your gauges and alarms.

I am running 58 on the speedo with the 310 HP 454mpi. Anyone care to guess what speed I can get with the 496ho 425 hp?

Wink

67-68 with right prop is my best guess.
Good Luck with the install, when you want to go faster call us.

Best Regards,

Default Attn Ray

Ha Ha Ray... 68 is plenty fast for me.. Besides I had a friend that had one of your motors and he said the temp always ran so hi that the motor was RED.... LOL... Just kidding Ray I have heard nothing but good things about your motors..

As far as the connector goes, I looked at mine today .Its round and has 9 pins not 10. Everyone still think it will just plug right into the 496.
