Default Water circulating pump re-build?

Does anyone do it? I have one that is starting to drip out the weep hole. I took the back cover off and it seems the only part that is "marine" is the stainless back cover and bolts....would a automotive one work if I re-use the back cover?

Merc wants about $300 for a new one.

I've bought 3 marine pumps for less than $100 from a advertiser here a couple yrs ago. All still going strong.

The only thing I remember buying made by Sierra were seawater pumps...I could have made pumps out of paper-mache that would have lasted longer.

That certainly looks like the right part, I'm just skeptical since it's so much cheaper than Merc's......but THANKS!!!

$89 I've bought these myself.

This is a Brand New circulating water pump for GM big block V8s 6.9L/427 cid & 7.4L/454 cid (includes gasket). These Brand new circulating pumps have a brass bi-directional impeller which means they can be used on either rotation engine. These are not Remanufactured, they are BRAND NEW! They are made in the USA and have a 1-year warranty. We have sold thousands of these pumps and can count the warranties on 1 hand. Buy with confidence. These pumps are the best value on the market today!

Maybe it's because Merc is overpriced to start with?
