The stock oil pump is fine make sure you use a new one if possible just change to a arp pump shaft that has the steel ring that go's on the pump side check the new shaft to the old shaft to make sure it is the same lenght... are you talking about the relief pressure oil spring or cylinder head vavle spring pressure?

Alec if you're using your old pick up make certain it's clean inside consider a new one they are not expensive and you can wash it inspect and use . I like to replace the pump on anything I build it's cheap insurance if you're going to use the pump you have at least replace the drive shaft with a steel coller one from any of the manufacturers IS77e in Melling

It is also good when you are done seting up the pick tube on the oil pump do two small tig welded tacks. tack the pickup to the housing a must if you reuse the pick up tube
