Default degreeing a camshaft ???

Hello All,
I'm degreeing my camshaft by bring the intake valve up to full lift, then rotate the engine .100 backwards , then rotate forward .050 and record then rotate another .100 and record. My intake valve measures as the cam card reads , but when I do the same process on the exhaust the max lift reading is way off . I t should be 117 degree's and reading 242 degrees. I checked it several times and come up with the same readings. Now if I read the cam using the opening and closeing method at .050 the cam reads very close to the cam card. Any suggestions. Thanks
