aviation fuel?
whats the deal with the av gas? I have heard it ok run in superchgarged motors and then I hear its not good to run it? I read an article were Bob Teaque sais it was fine to run as long as you added marvel mystery oil to the gas whats t hat all about? does anyone have experiance runnng av gas? I have a motor that needs around 100 octane and av gas is a lot cheaper than race gas! thanks

well this is just what i have been told, so dont hold it to gosipal.. but anyways av gas is rated at 100 octane at elevation where the planes fly at, so its actually less octane than 100 down at ground level. its also leaded so its a good lubricant, and the gas will not spoil. As long as you dont run O2 sensors u will be good.

I have been running 100ll aviation fuel in a turbo jetski pushing 19lbs of boost for about 3 years. It runs fine, as well as blending race fuel, but there is a decrease in fuel economy slightly. I have heard there is less btu's in aviation fuel an this is why the decrease in economy. I am now running it in my 630hp 509, and it runs fine, I just add some 2 stroke oil at each fill-up. The only problem I have is the nozzle for the av gas is very large and does not fit in the fill neck of my boat.

By the way planes have to run on the ground too, and this is where they see the greatest duty cycle at take off and landing so I do not think 100ll octane is rated at altitude.

you can run it but don't expect the same results as a true race gas, the specific gravety is off for auto/marine use...now works well mixed with pump gas as long as your compression or boost not to high...Rob
