Default 1350hp Sterlings or 777ci NA all motors???

Hello everyone... I am looking for some power to drop into my 47 fountain flat deck. Lightning Bay in St Pete is putting on the ASD8's right now... so all I have left is power.

At this point, I am thinking either 1350 Sterling (or similar) blower motors or possibly some 777ci all motor engines. The Sterlings usually run around 1150 for torque at 1350hp. The 777cu motors are hard to tell... I'd only be guessing, but I would say the NA motors could push out 1000hp with 1100 on the torque side.

I am mainly going to use this boat for a few poker runs per year and hanging out on the weekends at our local bars (Tampa/ St Pete area). I would rather use this boat on the weekends rather then wrench on it... so... any comments on the Sterling 1350 quality / reliability???

Any comments guys are appreciated....

I have never heard a bad word about sterlings. that thing would fly. however some 777's have got to sound evil. good luck with whatever choice you make

777's! You would be the only kid on your block with them & that is well worth it just for bragging rights.
Either package would be fine & many would kill for it.

Sterlings are worth bragging about also. I would go with the blower motors. More torque anytime you will need it. Big cubic inch motors won't live as long without rebuilds either.

How about adding another 100-150 cubes to those 777's, here is a link to Sonny's website, I KNOW he has done some pump gas 900+ inch motors that where very low maintainance and made well over 1500HP, You might not have the "wow" factor of a blower motor, but, running pump gas and having 900+ inches under the hatch would make quite a statement!.

Those 900's are VERY nasty... but I'd rather have two lambo's in my garage then a pair of the 900's... (close to 100K each!!) just my 2 cents.

I am worried about the Sterling rebuild factor... I figured one rebuild per each season... vs. a large ci motor that may get me through two seasons or better. Thoughts?

I have seen a pair of 1350 Sterlings have the absolute he11 run out of them and not miss a beat. They had approx. 50 hours on them. Owner did a top end on them and has run them 50 more. That is a proven combination.
