Usually a good place to start is to try tightening the u-bolt nuts. Unfortunately, if it hasn't been checked & tightened, the damage has probably already been done to the gimbal ring. If the ring is worn, replace it. Depending upon how much HP you are running, add the hydraulic steering system. If you do decide to add the steering, bite the bullet and go with a full system from the helm back.

Do not think putting hydraulic steering on with a worn gimble will correct the gimble situation. It's a boat, time to open your wallet wide....

Trust me Storm.. My wallet has been open.. I pulled the 454mpi and put in a 496ho mag last year. I guess the good news is my boat does NOT have any wood stringers. So at least I dont have to wory about that...LOL...
