Default Hourmeter Guage

I have a 271 Formula with a 496 Mag. My question is: Has anyone got any advice or answers for the following????? The hourmeter continues to click away hours without the engine running... The ignition key switch is off, keys out of ignition, and nothing is turned on except for my battery switch (either select 1, off, or both). The only way I can keep the hourmeter from running is to turn my battery switch to the off position. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR ANSWERS??

It is obviously wired wrong???????

It should get its power from a key on source, which would be a purple wire in most cases.

Its the gravitational pull from Sandy Beach that's causing it. You know, how it seems like you have only been there an hour or two, when its actually been 6!!

What up Tubzz!? How was Vegas!? Like the new boat by the way! Very nice!

BTW, it could be as simple as the hour meter wire is hooked to the wrong pole on the back of the key switch.

Need to find a purple ignition wire. You are connected to a hot lead to run accessories. Another problem is you a hour meter that has far too many hours.

Thanks guys. I should have only burnt up a couple of hours, due to my dumb ass placing the wrong wire after installing new bezels.
