Default Which Pro Charger for 950+ hp

So I'm having my engine built. Goal right now is 950, knowing me that number will probably go up. My builder (ateco engines, bill) had advised me to go whipple, but due to space restrictions (height and... how far forward the set up protrudes (pulleys)) I just can't. I agreed with my wife that I can't lose the sun deck to a scoop. So procharger with a side mount intercooler will be the way to go for me.

To have flexibility to go with a higher number should I be looking at the m-3 or m-4 dual carb kit? ps, if it matters I have a carbed 502.

Cheers, chris

I guess part of it comes down to cubes and boost. I have a 468 injected M3 with 7LB boost and make 720. But probably a M4.

I had 8 PSI intercooled M3's on a pair of 500EFI's.....Procharger claimed 830hp, had a builder/programmer claim it was closer to 790hp.

Go with a m4 or M5. I have M4 and had the dual 450 carbs. Could never get A/F right. Gave up and went efi. Before you buy something check into the retch setup. http://www.rtechperformance.com/

M-3 is rated for a max of 1000 HP, so I would go with an M-4 or better an M-5.

Are you absolutely sure that a Whipple will not fit?? The new one with intercooler is not that tall and can easily make 1000-1400 hp depending on C. I.

The Whipple is also a cleaner and cooler looking install.

I think you need to do more research.

I would also say go with the m-4 or m-5,I made just over 1100 hp with a m-3 BUT I was turning it well past its rating. It is common to turn prochargers past their rating but like anything it's life will be shortened,I have scattered one once already. Your starting with a clean sheet of paper, buy the biggest one you can get,Smitty

I'm positive the whipple won't work even 2 inches more height is not possible without a scoop. As the boat sits now a round cut out had to be removed from the underside of the sundeck for the top of the filter on the carb.....

arcticfriends: thanks for the chart......

I will be calling the procharger guys tomorrow.
