Actually called a fusable link if memory serves. I would replace them with breakers or newer style blade fuses. which will trip faster and not have to heat up and melt which could damage other wires and parts before tripping. Or worse yet, start a fire. My 2cts worth and an easy change out.

And more importantly it'd be replacable on a weekend from a hardware store.
