Oil puke tanks

I would like a little input on the best oil puke tanks, what are the pro's and con's. When we run the boat a little harder for awhile I get drips of oil on my valve covers, if I keep it down below 4K its fine. I have looked at some of the pics you guys have posted of your engines and I see a few different ones but when I do a search for them I can't find and thing that looks like the ones I have seen on here.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Well after searching though the old threads I found the ones I was looking for. It seems others have also been looking for puke tanks by the posts I read so here is the link to the ones I liked. http://www.petersonfluidsys.com/tanks.html

Oil leaking at the fill cap? Where is the oil coming from? Our experience is that a puke tank by itself will not likely fix an oil leak at the valve covers.

Waconda, I have the same exact problem. The oil tank you found is on ebay for $100. I am ordering one now. They are made for a dry sump system and some internal parts may need to come out. Also no brackets. The an fittings are #12AN. I'm planning on mounting mine as high as I can get it in the center of both engines. There are 6 fittings 4 of which I will plumb in the VC breathers and mount one large conical breather where the red screw off cap is. That should give the engines plenty of breather surface to expel crank case pressure. Alot of guys get away with taller breather tubes and VC vents. Like you said, under 3K rpm theres no problem but any sustained time at %k rpm I get oil mist out of the VC breathers. These tanks should work.

I did not find the 08-0400 on ebay, but they are only 82.00 from Peterson. After speaking with them the other one is more for rear ends but can be used. I want the larger ports.

On another note I switched from using synthetic oil this year and the drips of oil have gotten worse. Maybe I should just switch back?

I run syn. in everything I have. I don't think it makes a difference in the amount of oil being pushed out but it might? Either way it will still happen and needs fixed. The only problem that I have with that 08-400 tank is that it doesn't have a breather or filter medium, unless it is under the lid. The bigger problem I have with it is that it is UGLY! Maybe one of their custom tanks but I'm sure the price will go up dramatically. I'm going to check. Thanks for the site.

I was thinking of getting two tanks, small ones with a breather on top, and mounting one on each side with lines running from both ends of the valve covers to them. Possibly plumbing a small clear line from the drain on the bottom of the tank back down to the valve cover so they can be drained easily.

These are the ones I am considering.
The first one on the page would work for my idea, because it has two inlets. Any thoughts?

I was looking at some that size too but my question with them is having only one small breather, will that be enough to allow the crankcase to breath as opposed to the 2 breathers that size now, one in each VC? It seems to me that if we plumb in 2 VC's into one tank then we need double the breather surface area? Am I wrong?

I actually have 4 breathers that size right now, one on each end of both VC's. I was considering using TWO tanks, one for each VC, so in essence one breather for each side. Breathing well doesnt seem to be the issue for me, just the oil that is blowing out all over the place.
