Red face bravo shifts to easy

bravo 1 I was i out on my 35 ex got some air few times boat runs great I was pulling into the marina and the port drive shifts seems to easy into all postions i checked the drive fluid which is fine ,what could this be seems to easy.??????????????

Was it in advertently bound up before and "unbound" itself??

Maybe a long shot, but there is a ball and spring under the top rear cover that locates the linkage. May have a broken spring in there. The cover has 3 bolts and is sealed with an o-ring. It's easy to pull off, but you'll need to drain the drive.
