Default 502 idle and rpm issues

Hey guys I have a 2000 Baja Outlaw with a 502 Mag MPI. Drug the boat out to get ready for a trip to lake mead. but boat was really hard to start and will only idle for about 10 minutes then dies. Second problem is that I took my Alternator to a Alternator shop and had him test it and it tested good @ 14.4 volts but when I got home and put it back on the boat and put a meter on the back of it I only got 12.5 volts and I read 11.0 volts so I removed the Positives leeds from both of my batteries to check the Alternator and the boat ran for like a minute then died. PLEASE HELP driving me NUTS.
