496MAG HO Mercury Brass Sea Water Pump
We run our boats in the river up here in Iowa and only get about 2 to 3 years out of these Mercury stock sea water pumps before the sand in the water chews them up. They are about $400 ea and with twin motors it get $$ fast. Does anyone have a fix for these pumps....a sleve kit or remanufacture process? Buying new ones every couple of years is getting old.

Sand = Sand Strainers
You need to contact CP Performance and order and install their sand strainer -strainers on your boats so you don't have to go thu the expense and difficult labor of changing those Merc brass pump housings. Don't just install the impellar kits if your housings are significantly scored in areas other than the end plates, it won't rebuild the pump properly and you will have a low pressure problem still, if there is serious scoring in the area of the pump where the impeller blades ride!
