I built an HP500 with Dart heads and custom cam. With a 2.3 Whipple and dominator carb it made over 800 HP at 7 psi boost. The standard Whipple kit will make 650+ HP on a stock hp500 at 5-6 psi of boost.

That is with a 3.3L, but they certainly will make well over 700.

No, that's about right. But, that is a 3.3 with a cupro nickel intercooler.

Is this too small? Are these decent units
Not looking to make big power egine is stock but with CMI long swept back headers?
600 hp @ 5600 RPM is target output on 93 octane any thoughts?
Thanks
Steve
I ran a 2.3 on a HP500 for roughly 40 hours. The only problem I had was the stock head-gaskets. After replacing them there were no other problems at all. Very reliable and a lot more power. Ran 6# boost. Decided to go with the larger 3.3 and AFR heads, more power, speed, and gas. I am still running the original XZ drive with an Imco shortie lower and a 5 blade Hering prop. Runs like a top. I still have the 2.3 in case you're interested.
Good luck.

One of my friends runs a 454 Mag with a 2,8L Autorotor, pretty much the same as some of the Whipples. He use a Holley 850dp. No chiller. 600hp on if I remember correct 5psi, he runs mid 8Omph with his 28 Arrow. I have an 572 with a modded 2.6L Autorotor. Superchiller and 10psi. Autronic SM4 fuelinjection. This blower are little bit to small. I may going with a new 3.6L. My setup is very reliable, I have done more than 1500 nautic miles this year, both race and pleasure. Tomorrow I am going to post a link to the blower manufactor. My advice let the Dominator stays in the box. Fuelinjection is one of the main things. //Mange
