Upgrading to a performance cam in 454?

I have a 24ft Chaparral with a factory 454 which has been modified with an inner cooler, ignition and 7lb supercharger by ProCharger. I need to say I am no expert on engines, and am curious if what all goes into changing cams. Is it as easy as replacing the cam, or do I need to change out many more parts on the engine. Also anyone have any idea of cost to put in a performance cam as well as troubles I may encounter. Is a performance cam harder on the engine etc?

you will need a good blower profile cam, lifters(hyd roller the way to go) new springs, retainers, locks and pushrods. I would also repalce the timing chain set while its apart...how many hours on the engine....maybe time to freshen the rest ? Rob

I agree, valvetrain needs to be a matched set. I am not into superchargers but you may need to change the exhaust also. If you are serious call RMbuider he will set you up with a complete package.
