I use the 2 stage pumps on the larger engines. Especially ones with bellhousing coolers found in a speedmaster or Arneson setup. I run one stage of the pump to each cooler so they each get cold water. However, you must feed a 2 stage pump with a larger hose. It doesn't do a whole lot of good to feed a pump with (1) 1 1/4" hose and have (2) 1 1/4" hoses going out. I will feed my 2 stage pumps with 1 1/2" hose. I have found the 2 stage pump isn't really needed until almost 1000 hp. I run my engines cold and they need the 2 stages to keep them cold when the power gets up over 1000hp.

idle climbs to 159.as soon as water starts going thru it it cools instant around 125-135 cruising, faster cools it from that.I just changed up the water pick up,trying to get more water flow.
this has a vid of water flow

So it seems almost everybody doesn't run any water through the intercooler at idle. So how would you plumb a dual stage sea pump on a standard bravo setup. Only differance is I have a big oil cooler.

I would run one stage through the engine and the other through the exhaust. Just take the water from the thermostat housing and dump it overboard. This will give the engine all the water that it can handle. The exhaust is usually the biggest restriction to water flow, so without it, the engine will flow a ton of water.

It cools on sheer volume. You are moving so much water through the block that it doesn't have a choice but to cool. All I can say is that it works to keep the engine ice cold.
