And if you try and just pull the restrictor out and run it you will get an alarm (I think around 4k) something about air flow since the motor is getting to much for the base PCM. Had a motor installed in a active thunder that had that problem. It was a Ho motor shipped with a base computer.

I see allot of 8.2 base engines. In the salt water I see allot of exhaust failures after 3 years (filling motors with water or cracking and spraying water out). I do have pics from the last job I did, I don't know how to post so if someone wants the pics to post on here, I'll email them to you

Also this is on the first version exhaust which has 3 cats per side. New version has 1 big cat per side like the small blocks

I wasn't aware this was an issue. I run fresh water anyways.

Hello
i think i will get problem with water inside! my engine is without Kats and have same exhaust as 496 modell! i will change in 1-2 years to cmi headers or so! i get now upgraded pcm from dustin for full power.
i buy new intake adaptor from merc,but better save the money.Merc use only the restricted adaptor and take the restiction area with an drill maschine out.Looks like childswork!
i think they made only the restricted part.but this you need only at NON DTS engines like my.
The engine with DTS are only restricted with software. the throttle open at DTD MAG engine with 380hp not full!
I do one hour more work on it to make a clean intake!
If someone need,i can send pcs from the 2 intake adaptors!
and please sorry if my english is not so good!!

I would like to see some pictures to fully understand. I will need to buy this intake adapter since I'm getting my PCM tuned soon. Can anyone post a link to the part I need? Again I have the 8.2 mag without digital throttle.

Send me your mailadress an i send pics from the parts!
you must buy nothing!
merc take the parts with restrictor and make the restictor mechanical out with drillmaschine or so!
and they do no good work.
i need one hour to make it look real good.
if i get your mailadress,i can send some pics!
you need this to do and upgrade your PCM .
you can have HO power or 475 HO version if you will run gas with 91 octane!

I plan on getting the stage 2 PCM upgrade which requires 91 octane. Did you get yours tuned yet? And did you do stage 1 or stage 2 upgrade? If so how are the power gains?
