Default hyd roller lifter limits

I'm tossing around the idea of going with solid rollers on my engine build. However as with everything there are trade-offs. Can anyone give me a general rpm limit for hyd rollers. I've got a set of Crower hyd that I'm planning on using now and I'll be using the std springs that AFR puts in their 265 oval heads if I stick with that plan. Next Thursday I'm pulling the trigger on the cam and heads so any input would be great.

Mike, Call Crower and talk to them. They are very easy to get in touch with and will answer your question directly. I know what your facing right now. I considered going with solid rollers however I am going to stay with hyd. for now anyway. Pros and cons with both. It's kind of funny how you see hyd. roller guys wanting to go solid and also the other way around.

It depends on the lifter. I am not familiar with the Crowers, but I have run the standard Morels to 62-6300 and the high rpm Morels to 6600 with no problems. I regularly run the standard ones over 6000 rpms. That is the only lifter I will use.....period. The high rpm Morels are supposed to be good to well over 7000 rpm. Never tried it though.
I have been using them for about 8 years now and can't say enough good things about them. Give them a try and run whatever you want. Good luck. Give me a shout if I can help.

I would imagine what cam your using but doesn't 200 at the seat seem a little much? Not being a smart ass however just curious.

I was thinking about taking this build up to 63-6400 rpms. If I can do that safely with the hyd then I'm sticking to that. I really don't feel like the headaches associated with solid rollers. Everything else in the engine is good to well beyond 6500 so my valvetrain may be my weak link. I'll give crower a call on monday and see what they have to say.
