I had a boat with a 350 mag alfa set up ran 50 so i bought a 454 mag 365 hp
left the alfa. Boat ran 65 but the alpha drive needs to be really babied. The drive will blow up if you romp on it out of the hole you need to keep the throttle in check. I would try to turn your motor 6000 rpms or more. The faster you can turn your motor the less pitch prop you need which will put less stress on your drive. I have seen guys turn small blocks as much as 6900 rpms. Good luck.
