    oil sandwich adapter

So i put a earls thermostatic sandwich adapter on my BBC gen 5. I believe part # 503. It appears to be leaking from inbetween the stock filter location on the block and the sandwich adapter. Has anybody ever had a problem with this unit leaking from where it seals to the block? Any help would be great

I have had the same problem on a Gen V also. It kept leaking around the o-ring seal. I did everything to it and never did get it to quit. I went back to the factory adapter.

I have a Mocal sandwich oil T-stat. Prior to installation I examined the sealing O-ring and did not like its diameter. Searched at McMaster Carr and got an O-ring that was slightly larger and installed it in place of. Never had a leak in 4 years.

Not many are using the sandwich adapters. I believe the sealing arrangement is different on the oil T-stat version. I don't know if mine would have leaked, I just changed the O-ring because I could.
