Felpro gaskets
Hi guys, just bought a felpro marine gasket set and found the head gaskets are steel not stainless like I would expect. Would these be ok for saltwater?
The engine will get flushed every use, but I don't want them giving out within the year!

news flash here !! after talking to a strait up person at felpro, he told me many of their gaskets are exactly the same and just packaged and #ed for whatever market they are sent to along with the different pricing !!!! so you kinda get the picture..ran into this over a late model one piece oil gasket..they sell it 3 ways...one for a std auto replacement, high performance, and marine...all the same gasket price from $22 to $49..all the same piece just just in diff packages.
So buying a "marine" or "high performance" felpro gasket in some cases means nothing more that you just got screwed !

So what do you guys think I should do, fit these or buy some stainless ones.
FYI. The originals that came off were steel and not damaged in anyway and had been on there since 87'

It probably has a lot to do with the gasket kit pricing. Felpro makes Steel and SS core marine head gaskets. Personally I would go with the SS.
