Default Ignition box w/pics?

My set-up came with this "older" looking thunderbolt ignition box and I have no spark so I had a "newer" looking thunderbolt IV box laying around and wired it and now I have spark! It has the same wire color. I didn't fire up the motor yet but iam getting spark out of the coil now!
Question is what is the diffrence between the two boxes? Anything with ign advance curve? more or less curve?, etc
Thanks

Pics of my old box on the right and newer box on the left.

i do know some where on the newer box it might be in the part number they tell you the advance of the unit. i have two units sitting around from some old projects and they both have different advances in them. check around i am sure some will be able to tell you so you know where to set your base timing.

Yes I understand that, the newer one is a v6-14 model which I know the blower motor's run, but iam wondering what this older looking one is set-up for. Thanks
