Max engine rpm ?
1993 454 OMC King Cobra.
Manual says 4600 - 5000 rpm.
While working on the boat today I noticed a little sticker I never paid any attention to. It lists a few things and says operating rpm is 4200 - 4600. Ive propped the boat for 5000 and have run like that since I bought it (two seasons). So how can I know where I should be? Calling OMC obviously isnt an option. I called the new owners, Bombardier, with a question a week ago and got the "We only bought certain assets of OMC." Guess that means they didnt buy any of the problems.

Yeah, I can imagine that OMC/Bomber doesn't want to know you. But, a BBC is a BBC even if it ain't Merc. 5K flat out and lightly loaded is what I would prop for as long as you don't have the rev limit that goes BP-BP-BP-etc. WITHIN REASON lugging the engine does more harm than short term overreving. --- Jer
