Default 502 head gaskets

I'm looking at buying a set of Gm head gaskets for a 502, but they claim they can only be used on iron heads. I have a set of aftermarket aluminum has anyone ever used stock Gm gaskets without issues. I have a fresh water cooling system and don't need marine gaskets. The only reason I thinking of Gm gaskets is because the fit better on the 502 then the fel-pro's . Any inputs. Thanks Jeff

Fresh water as in closed cooling with antifreeze or lake water ? any water will rot gaskets over time that aren't stainless.
