I have two Hardin Marine swirl away sea strainers I used on my natural asperated engines. I'm adding whipple chargers and wondering if I need to add an additional strainer for the whipple intercoolers?

Most likely the strainers will be a good enough water supply but you might want to consider 2 stage sea pumps. I'm not sure how much water the intercoolers need but I wouldn't want to take any water away from cooling the engines. Just my 2cts.

When by boat was rigged it has strainers for engines and another strainer for the intercoolers. The boat has water pickups on the bottom of the boat.

I would stick with the single stage pump unless you have a larger pickup. If you are using a bravo drive to supply the engine, then a 2 stage pump isn't really going to help.
I use a transom mounted pick up and force feed the intercooler. You should run a seperate intercooler strainer. I really like the sand strainers from Hardin.

I'm with Eddie. Why take away any water from cooling the motor??? When you add a blower, you increase cylinder temps and need all the cooling you can get, the cooler the better. Add an offshore pickup and run a separate strainer.

Eddie, what size are the fittings on that Hardin unit? It looks slick.

It is a very nice piece. It has one 1" npt inlet and (2) 3/4" NPT oulets. It also has an 1/8" port for a pressure gauge.
