I am close to with mild thunder. The only exception would be to do a roller cam with a little more pop then you have now. If we knew your engine specs we could help better. Anyway, just doing the rebuild with a slightly better ROLLER cam for your desired rpm will get you what you want.
PS, don't even think about trying to reuse your flat tappet cams or lifters unless you make sure they go back exactly like removed.

If your budget is only 10K for 2 engines that will not get you far. Most likley your exhaust is shot, that will blow most of your budget right there. Rebuild to stock specs and call it good, unless you want to double or triple that budget and build some real power.

here ya go, 2 sets of gils with bravo pipes 800x2=1600 and i bet he would take a reasonable offer. that leaves you at least 8k for a rebuild, figure 500 for new performer rpm intakes, 400+/- for a pair of used holley carbs with rebuild kits and figure about 5-600 for custom cams and assuming you are doing the work yourslef you can do this for 10k. i built a entire 27' single engine baja for 10k and that included a new transom, stringers, floors, engine and all new interior. if you researcha and spend money wisely you can do it..... hell if you do everything mentioned above you could buy 2 reman 330hp motors for 6 grand

reman gev IV motor

gen VI roller motor with large oval heads which is what i have more or less

with the gev VI you will need electric fuel pumps so figure a extra 250 for a pair of holley reds(example for low budget) and you will need new oil filter adapters but those are not too expensive. its worth the extra cash in my opionion to go gen VI

I saw this ad and thought of your situation. This is a low-cost option that allows you to tinker with "new" motors while still having the use of your old motors. For $500 the rev. rotation motor might be worth it just to get some extra parts.
Often times motor builds not only go over-budget, but they also can take a lot longer than anticipated. Buying these would allow you to build them at your leisure, adding money at your leisure, have the benefit of acquiring parts and accessories at your convenience, and reduce your down-time.
*** I have absolutely no interest or connection with these motors***

Thanks for all the valuable input. I've made a few calls and and I'm currenlty leaning towards a 496 stroker kit, although that could change. I'm really looking for the low and mid-range torque. I'll continue to look at all options. I'm learning alot.
